These boots are ridiculously expensive, are made in China, don't even have Vibram soles like my Thorogoods, and still cost twice as much. So much for an "American classic." I bought these boots to replace a pair of Doc's that I was able to destroy in 6 months of wear. I wear boots to work six days per week and spend the entire time standing on hard, slippery surfaces in a kitchen environment. The soles of my retired Doc's were worn smooth and had split wide-open, so I am hoping that Red Wing boots will outlast the sadly departed pair.My first three days have been torture. The boots are challenging me to break them in. My ankles are rubbed raw at the collar of the boot and my smallest toe is killing me. As far as support and comfort, the overall sense I have is that they may one day be very comfortable to wear and may possibly provide great support. As of the end of the third day, I view them as adversaries. Gimme a week and another bottle of advil to really know if I will like them enough to justify the cost.
