I've had my pair for 20 years now and they've been through countless thousands of miles on-trail, off-trail, slogging through snow, mud, and water and they've kept my feet happy and dry without fail. They are heavy, especially by today's standards but that's unavoidable if you're in the market for a one-piece leather boot. And yes, the break-in period is abject misery. I wore mine around town for a few weeks before first hitting the trail with them and the blisters on the tops of my heels were awful. The back of the boot is *very* stiff when brand new. Once broken in though they're a joy to wear and I've had virtually no trouble with hot spots and blisters since. After 20 years of abuse, they're finally about ready for a visit back to Danner to have the soles replaced and some stitching repaired after which I expect another solid 20 years out of them. 0 3 of 3 people found the following review helpful Best boots I've ever owned!, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Danner Men's Mountain Light Boot (Apparel) I read the reviews, and I decided to take my chances. I ordered the 11.5 EE, they where to big. So I would recommend half size smaller. I've been wearing them every day since I received my order. I'm very happy tat I bought them,Thank you Danner you make a great product! 0 1 of 1 people found the following review helpful Not for work, Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Danner Men's Mountain Light Boot (Apparel) I bought these boots after looking through several reviews, and I was excited about using them. However, I quickly discovered that these boots are most likely MEANT for somewhat warmer, dryer weather. I'm wearing them as a receiver for a factory, and I'm constantly in the snow during the winter. I figured that as long as they were waterproof, I could wear warm socks and the cold wouldn't be an issue. I think it would be more accurate to say these boots are water-resistant. After a while in the snow, your feet do start to feel damp. To be fair, I've been in some deep snow at times, and the snow can fall into the boot because of how short they are; but there have been other times where I wasn't in deep snow, and my feet still seemed damp (not from sweat). The boots seem to be made well, but just aren't ideal for what I had planned to use them. If you are looking for outside work boots, I recommend looking elsewhere. 0 |
